Shift Trades

Shift trades give you more flexibility to manage your work schedule by exchanging shifts with other agents. Depending on your organization's configuration, you can request a trade directly with another agent or use the Shift Trade Board to find and post available trades.

Shift trading is available from the Calendar application. To use shift trading, you must have the appropriate privilege.

Types of Shift Trades

There are two ways to trade shifts:

  • Direct trade: Request to exchange a shift with a specific agent. You can search for another agent's shift, select the shift you want to receive, and send the agent a trade request.
  • Public trade: Use the Shift Trade Board to find shifts that other agents have posted for trade or create a public posting for a shift you want to trade.

For step-by-step instructions, see How to Trade a Shift and How to Use the Shift Trade Board.

Shift Trade Requests

When you send a trade request, the other agent can review the proposed trade and accept or deny it. You can view your trade requests and their current statuses in My Trade Requests.

Accepting a trade does not necessarily complete the trade. Shift trade requests are evaluated against rules configured by your organization. Depending on the configuration, an accepted trade may be approved automatically when all applicable rules are satisfied or may require approval from a supervisor or other authorized user.

When a trade is approved, the affected shifts are updated in each agent's Calendar.
